Buloogh Workshop
On Sunday, February 22 & March 1 2026 we will have Buloogh Workshops for girls age 9+ and boys age 11+ .
Please see below for the outline of topics that our team of experienced instructors will cover in an age appropriate manner.
We will have five separate classes to divide the students by gender and age. If your child is near the age cutoff (age 11 girl, age 13 boy) you can request them to be in the older class. Students will be able to ask questions anonymously.
- We encourage parents to have initial discussions with their students in advance of the workshops
- Parents should keep students home if they wish to opt out of the workshops
Topics:
Girls age 8-9 (Levels 3-4)
- Instructor: Sister Syeda Mirza
- Topics:
- Obligatory actions for a baligha (wajibaat) prayer, fasting, hijab
- General intro to puberty, menstruation and related issues.
- Hayaa, social hijab, gender interaction, who is a mahram/non- mahram (do’s and don’t’s of touching, looking, dressing, and interacting)
- Hygiene (cleanliness, taharah, grooming)

Girls age 10-11 (Levels 5-6)
- Instructor: Sister Masooma Farishta
- Topics:
- Obligatory actions for a baligha (wajibaat) prayer, fasting, hijab
- General intro to puberty, menstruation and related issues.
- Hayaa, social hijab, gender interaction, who is a mahram/non- mahram (do’s and don’t’s of touching, looking, dressing, and interacting)
- Hygiene (cleanliness, taharah, grooming)
Girls age 12+ (Level 7+)
- Instructor: Sister Maryam Zaman
- Topics:
- Review Islamic rules of haydh/menstruation and istihadha
- Review feminine hygiene (purity/taharah, cleanliness)
- Review wajib Ghusl (when and how)
- Social hijab and Haya (Hijab of 5 senses,philosophy of hijab, and challenges)
- Gender Interactions (friendships with the opposite gender, social media interactions, scenarios/discussions focused on key stress points and strategies to maintain respectful gender interaction and Islamic boundaries in social gatherings).
Boys age 11-13 (Level 6-7)
- Instructor: Brother Hasan Zahed
- Topics:
- General intro to puberty (signs of buloogh)
- Obligatory actions for young men (prayer, fasting)
- Hygiene (cleanliness, taharah, grooming)
- Gender interaction, who is a mahram/non- mahram (do’s and don’t’s of touching, looking, dressing, and interacting)
- drugs and substance abuse
Boys age 14+
- Instructor: Brother Ebraheem Fontaine, et. al.
- Topics:
- Hygiene (cleanliness, taharah, grooming)
